About Myself and this Website
Hi, I'm Rob Chapman and welcome to my songs and music website. I am from Palatine, Illinois which is just northwest of Chicago and part of the Chicagoland metropolitan area.
Unfortunately (for me) if you search for "Rob Chapman" with various other song or musical keywords you will probably get the other musician with my name from England. If you are looking for the other, more popular Rob Chapman musician please feel free to move on as you wish.
If, however, you are interested in my original songs and music then welcome and I hope you enjoy the songs and your visit.
This website has actually been on the internet since 1999 and currently most of the songs are from the early 2000s (for now anyway) but I believe that many of the songs still sound good today (others have not aged as well).
I am just now updating this website to a more current format. The 1999 version of this website is pretty corny based on today's standards. For nostalgia I have kept the original web pages in the Archive section of this site which you can find in the site map. You may still see some of the old turn of the century text or graphics until I get everything updated.

I used to describe my style as "primarily Rock with a mixture of Blues, Country, Jazz, Pop and a few other styles thrown in for color".
These days I really don't think that most of my original songs really fit any particular music style or genre. I just write the songs based on what the song is about and in my own style based on my musical background.
Unfortunately, the original recordings were done on an old digital 4 track recorder that compressed the sound to some degree and wrote the recordings to an old obsolete optical disk format.
I also did not have any kind of current mixing equipment or software so I just transferred the original 4 track optical recordings to my PC via the audio in jack then recorded them to MP3 audio files. Yes, very primitive but I now have updated equipment and software for any future recordings.

I am currently in the process of posting more of my original songs (the old recordings) to YouTube since it is such a standard format, I can include the lyrics as the songs play and it is just more interesting to have something to watch as you listen.

I've also posted a video on YouTube of some cover songs from some live shows that I did way back in 1990 and the Village Squire restaurants in Mchenry and Crystal Lake Illinois.

I learned later that you are not really supposed to do cover songs on YouTube without copyright permission but tno one has ever given me a hard time about this video.
